Pool insitu ozone systems
Ozomax INSITU Ozone Pool treatment systems consist of two (2) components:
|
|
![]() |
|
| INSITU Ozone generator: Produces ozone and mixed oxidants from the pool water itself. | INSITU Power Supply: Provides DC power to the INSITU ozone generator. |
The internal computerized controller (PLC controller) allows
- the user to select the power level desired
- the constant monitoring and control of the power required to maintain the desired level of dissolved ozone
- the automatic initiation of the INSITU ozone generator cleaning cycle to ensure that the internal electrodes are clean and working optimally
How does ozone pool treatment work?
Ozomax's patented INSITU ozone generators produce ozone and several mixed oxidants such as atomic oxygen, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals from the pool water itself. These oxidants react with the cell membranes of bacteria and viruses, oxidize them and convert them to carbon dioxide and water. Similarly, other pool water contaminants such as urine, sweat and saliva are eliminated.
What is an INSITU Ozone Generator?
Ozomax's INSITU ozone generators produce ozone not from air or gaseous oxygen but directly from water using a patented electro-catalytic dissociation process. The resulting nascent oxygen in the presence of precious metal catalysts produces a mixture of powerful oxidants including oxygen radicals, ozone, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals. These work together to oxidize and eliminate organic and inorganic pollutants and are especially effective at destroying micro-organisms.
Since ozone is produced directly from the water itself Ozomax INSITU ozone generators
- are unaffected by ambient humidity and temperature
- have no mass transfer losses - all of the ozone produced is dissolved
- do not require any accessories such as air driers or ozone injectors thereby making them easier to install
- require no maintenance as computerised power supply automatically initiates the cleaning cycle at a pre-determined frequency
What model ozone generator do I need?
The size of ozone generator required is determined by the volume of your pool.
See sizing chart below.

How is this equipment installed?

Why do we need to use sodium chloride (common salt, NaCl) ?
Since Ozomax INSITU ozone generators produce ozone through an electrolytic process, one must ensure that the pool water is sufficiently conductive. To achieve this goal, salt (such as sodium chloride and/or sodium bromide) is added to the pool.
The Ozomax INSITU ozone generator is not a salt chlorine generator. Salt chlorine generators produce chlorine whereas Ozomax INSITU Ozone Generators produce ozone and mixed oxidants.
How much sodium chloride (NaCl) is needed?
Sodium chloride is added to the pool at a concentration of 2 grams/L only at the beginning of the season to increase the water conductivity. A few months later, some make-up salt (say about 0.2 g/L) might have to be added in order to compensate for losses due to backwashing, splashing, rain etc.
